![]() God is all-good - not a God of wrath and vengeance, but of Love. Man (meaning man and woman) is completely spiritual, not born of original sin, but made in the image and likeness of God, as presented in Genesis I. Sin is anything that deviated from the First Commandment-only one God. (Ex. 20:3) Sin isn't just holding the wrong thought about a fellow man, or immoral living and actions, but includes any belief that man is separate from his Father-Mother God. Jesus is not God, but he is the beloved son of God. Christian Science makes a distinction between Christ, the divine idea of God, and Jesus, the human being. Each one of us, as the spiritual reflection of God, embodies this Christly nature. It is the Christ idea that enables us to heal, to overcome sin, and to live in peace and harmony and to express life eternal. Jesus' crucifixion is important, not just because he gave his life for us, but through the crucifixion, resurrection and ascension, Jesus demonstrated that life is eternal, and the nothingness of death. Christian Science has no dogma, ceremony, or religious ritual. Each of us has a direct relationship with God. We may study the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, and attend church as we please. Ultimately, it is our individual understanding of spiritual being that determines our human experience.
